The Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI) has established the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent, autonomous, and self-sustained premier testing organization under the Societies Registration Act (1860) for conducting efficient, transparent, and international standardized tests in order to assess the competency of candidates for admission to premier higher education institutions with a mission to improve equity and quality in education by developing and administering research-based valid, reliable, efficient, transparent, fair and international level assessments.
NTA has created a system that promotes teaching (by teachers), learning (by students), and assessment (by parents and institutions). NTA strongly believes in the quality, efficiency, effectiveness, equity, and security of assessments. To practice these values, NTA is constantly engaging with its stakeholders, viz. students, parents, teachers, experts, and partner institutions.
The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) to the NTA from 2019 onwards.
The Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main) comprises two papers. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B.Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses in the Country.
For appearing in the JEE (Main), there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12/equivalent examination in 2020, 2021, or appearing in 2022 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) examination. However, the candidates may be required to fulfill the age criteria of the Institute(s) in which they are desirous of taking admission.
Students who are planning to appear for JEE Advanced are required to meet certain eligibility criteria established by the exam conducting authority. Candidates who do not fulfil the required criteria are not qualified to appear for the JEE Advanced exam. Therefore, candidates are advised to read the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced carefully before submitting their application form to avoid any discrepancy in the future.
Soon after the declaration of JEE Main results, the conducting authority for the JEE Advanced exam will release the application form and other items. For 2022, IIT Bombay will be in charge of releasing the application forms and they should be available after the completion of the JEE Main exams. The students have to first register themselves on the official website and then fill out the application form. They have to submit the form online along with the application fees. The top 2.50 lakh candidates from JEE Mains will be eligible for the IIT JEE Advanced exam.
JEE Advanced will likely be held on July 3rd as per the announcement made by the IIT Bombay.
The application form for JEE Advanced 2022 will be released at jeeadv.nic.in and as per the official notification the registration process will begin on June 8, 2022, and will be closed on June 14, by 5 pm. The last date to pay the registration fee has been kept as June 15, till 5 pm.
To download the JEE Advanced admit card, candidates have to visit the official website and use their application number, date of birth, and mobile number.

The percentiles are calculated by taking the aggregate marks of all the subjects of the Qualifying Exam. Institutions will provide cutoff marks for the top 20 percentiles of various categories and the information will be published on the IIT websites.
The candidate’s login ID for JEE Advanced 2022 is the candidate’s JEE Main roll number. The password is the one used for JEE Main.
The questions in JEE Advanced are quite tricky and analytical. As for the format, they are mostly multiple-choice types that cover all the three science subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Nine other premier institutes offer admissions based on JEE Advanced score, namely, IISC Bangalore, IISER Bhopal, IISER Kolkata, IISER Mohali, IISER Thiruvananthapuram, IISER Pune, IIST Thiruvananthapuram, RGIPT Rae Bareli, and IIPE Visakhapatnam.
The best and most effective way to develop better skills for tackling JEE Advanced questions is to solve a maximum number of question papers, be it sample papers or previous year papers, etc. Candidates can also take up mock tests as well. All these study exercises will help aspirants get familiar with the paper patterns and they will know how to answer the questions during the real exam.
